Michael Young awarded Martin Luther King, Jr Advancing One Community Award

Congratulations to Michael Young who, on Thursday, January 18, was awarded the Martin Luther King, Jr Advancing One Community Award by the Office of the Vice President for Diversity and Inclusion.

Each January the Iowa State University community observes the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. with a campus-wide celebration and the recognition of individuals and groups who have followed the principles of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The Advancing One Community Awards, coordinated by the Office of the Vice President for Diversity and Inclusion, recognize recipients’ efforts to create an inclusive university community that embraces justice and equity. Awards are presented annually in January as part of the university’s Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration.

Recipients of the Advancing One Community Award have demonstrated commitment to the principles and goals of Dr. King over a sustained period of time through nonviolent actions to create an inclusive multicultural community and/or to bring about systemic change at Iowa State University.
