Iowa State University’s Department of Mathematics honored Kira Barclay with the Mathematics Department Young Alumni Award at the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Honors and Awards Ceremony on Oct. 25, 2018 in Ames, Iowa. The award recognizes outstanding alumni from the Department of Mathematics.
Barclay earned a bachelor of science degree in math and a minor in sociology from Iowa State in 2003, followed by a master’s in statistics in 2005. She also earned the Iowa State University Graduate Student Teaching Award in 2005. She earned her master’s of business degree in strategic management from Indiana University.
She was selected for the honor based on her professional success and her service to the mathematics department and many other organizations. Barclay is chair for the Department of Mathematics Advisory Council and lends her time to nonprofits such as the Des Moines Social Club and Children and Families of Iowa.
Currently Barclay is director of analytics for John Deere Financial World Headquarters in Johnston, Iowa. Barclay oversees customer and channel analytics at John Deere Financial. She leads a team of analytics professionals whose mission is to drive sales opportunities and deliver distinctive and sustainable competitive advantages for John Deere. In addition, she leads the development and execution of the John Deere Financial data and analytics strategy and develops processes and tactics to support strategic priorities.
