Friday, April 26th will see the Mathematics Department hosting two special events, highlighted below.
Special Colloquium: Bob Antol – “Perfection in a Scarred Mathematical World”
After graduating from Iowa State University in 1978, Bob developed, delivered and supported tools and methodologies for chip designers at IBM. Bob’s tool suite helped develop next-generation computing, ATMs, gaming consoles, and supercomputer Watson.
Bob retired after 35 years with IBM, and has since journeyed to the North Pole, hosted “The Astronomical Almanac”
on New York’s WPWL Radio, and built an observatory attached to his own home.
He currently serves on ISU’s Math External Advisory Council.
Bob’s talk will take place on Friday, April 26th at 3:20PM in 1001 Troxel Hall. The livestream link can be found here.
Department Awards Ceremony
The Mathematics Department Awards Ceremony will be held on Friday following the special colloquium. The ceremony will highlight the achievements of Mathematics undergraduate & graduate students, as well as celebrate faculty members’ efforts throughout the year.
The ceremony will take place on Friday, April 26th at 4:30PM in 1001 Troxel Hall, with a reception following. The livestream link to the ceremony can be found here.
